Esmarelda visits the British Equestrian Federation

What has Esmarelda been up to whilst at the BEF?

She has been rushed off her hooves! Over the weekend Esmarelda was escorted to the Espayo British Dressage National Championships, Stoneleigh Park, where she watched plenty of top Brits strut their stuff including Carl Hester, Michael Eilberg and Gareth Hughes.

Esmarelda has also been helping us to update our social networking channels for Equestrian Team GBR and Hoof; she has had some great tips to offer thanks to her wealth of social media experience.

Who did she meet?

Whilst visiting the Espayo British Dressage National Championships, Esmarelda met top British para-dressage rider Sophie Wells. Sophie recently won the coveted title of European Champion out in Herning, Denmark, as well as being a member of the gold medal winning team.

Esmarelda also met the BEF’s Chief Executive, Andrew Finding, and Performance Director, Will Connell, as well as becoming quite accustomed to the Communications and Marketing team.

We hope she didn't turn into a dressage diva?

There were a few delicate moments when Esmarelda was keen to join the dressage horses performing at the National Dressage Championships, this weekend. Thankfully we convinced her it would not be fair on the other horses if she were to take part!

Tell us more about the BEF

The BEF is the recognised governing body of horse sports in the UK. We currently have two social media channels; they are represented by Equestrian Team GBR and Hoof. Equestrian Team GBR competes across a number of disciplines and has enjoyed great success on the World, European, Olympic and Paralympic stage, winning many medals over the years. Learn more about Equestrian Team GBR at our website.

Hoof is the BEF’s Olympic and Paralympic legacy campaign which aims to encourage more people to take up horse riding, driving, vaulting and volunteering. By connecting people to riding centres, schools, clubs and equestrian sporting organisations, Hoof is helping more people to discover horses, get fit and improve their wellbeing. Find out more on the Hoof website..

What impact has social media had on the BEF?

Equestrian Team GBR and Hoof both appear on a variety of social channels including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram. The impact is huge because it gives us instant access to the public eye where we can supply our latest news, photographs, results and case studies.
